Bowl-A-Thon 2009

By Eric K. Jackson, Branch 725

The 2009 Deliver the Cure Bowl benefiting Muscular Dystrophy was a huge success. Held at the Conchester Lanes in Boothwyn Pa, the event was well organized, very easy to get to and presented a good time for all.

The facility was only two miles off of I-95. After arriving I found the committee had made arrangements up to and including pichers of beer at a reduced rate of $6.00 a pitcher(normally $8.00). Although the event was held at the same time as the Eagles game, each lane had the game on a monitor on every lane. The game also was shown at the bar on many larger screen televisions.

Each lane had pichers of soda and a pizza delivered as we bowled. For small children bumper lanes were provided. "It was great to see so many letter carriers and their families have a good time. Their was no mention of management, grievances or anything postal" President Jim McCullough recalled.

I would like to acknowledge President Jim McCullough for his leadership and the committee of Director of MDA Bill Melon, Andrew Kearney from Folsom, and Jack Daniel from West Chester. You guys put on a great event in a very short amount of time. This event is a national annual fundraiser, so please make plans to attend next year.

Many offices raised and donated money. Some individuals donated the $25.00 fee although they could not attend. To date we raised $1042.00 with expected incoming monies to total about $2500. That is just a great start to a most worthy cause.
