National Business Agent
Announces Candidacy For
Second Term

By Eric K. Jackson, Branch 725

January 27, 2010

Bill Lucini announced his intention to run for a second term. Stating "my mother always said 'if you want something , you should ask for it'. Well, I am asking each and everyone of you for your support". He highlighted his excellent staff of RAAs Dave Napadano and Ray McDonald.

His announcement came at the end of a very informative National Reassessment Process (NRP) Training session from 7:00 to about 9:30 P.M. The information filled evening included Pizza, soda and water.

The NRP training is being rolled out by Bill Lucini and his staff across region 12. It also will be given at the regional "Rap" seesion held in about a month. Most people probably will sit in on that session as well just to get a better handle on the information.

The NRP process is managements lastest attempt to rid the Postal Servie of it's workers hurt on the job. They are "evaluating" every injured worker to match work assignments with their capabilities. But along the way they are violating the contract and the rights long established for injured workers. Among the excuses given to carriers are that there is no work available for them or misinformation which says they don't have to find work for them. These are the likes of letter carriers who worked for them for 20-30 years, get hurt on the job, and now, suddenly they send them home saying "No work available".

But fret not party people. The same people who help you daily with your schedule, enforces the contract in your office on a daily basis, and help you not get forced to work will be trained to file the proper grievances on your behalf to protect your interests. You union is here for you.

A great turn out by Branch 725 led the way. In attendance was (in no particular order) President Jim McCullough, Vice President Rhonda Massari, Director of Education Les Dillman, Director Of Health Benefits/MBA Gerard Gallagher, Trustee Jim Dolan Jr., Carol Zukowski, Jim Watson, Nic Palash,Eric Weibel, and Eric K. Jackson.

RAA's Dave Napadano and Ray McDonald pushed through the presentation with as much clarity as possible. Dave also spoke about the MIARAP and a few other issues. All in all, this is a must see training for every unionist at every level. It will touch each of us in some capacity. Fortunately, I'll see it for ther second time in Atlantic City.
