Are you coming to the next general meeting? It promises to be very exciting. Word on the street is that the branch will be giving away houses, big screen tv's and new cars( that would be nice but it's not true). You will get a lot of information about what is going on about your job. You probably will find out that most of your rights were trampled on by management. Now you will have the right information to empower you.

The big issue right now in the union is route adjustment. Les Dilman did a great job explaining the process and results of the last round. He also answered questions and poo pooed most of the rumors that float around. The accurate information people, the Executive Board will only tell you what they know(from the contract and publications). If they don't, they will get you the answers you seek. Les Dilman has been working on the offices up for round two. Find out how we are doing. If it's happening at another office, chances are it will happen in your office. Find out what our people are doing wrong and what we are doing right! But the way you find out first hand is at the meeting(the first Wednesday of each month excluding July and August).

Another big issue right now is Healthcare. Our Director of health benefits is Gerard Ghalagher. He just returned from training on the latest changes and updates to our ever advancing health plan. Thanks to our former business agent Tim O'Malley, the Nalc Health Plan has quickly become rated at the top. We attracted so many new members from outside of the letter carrier craft that it begs to question why don't more letter carriers take a look at it(that's all we ask...of course we respect your choice of what's best for your family but please take a look). We are non profit so all the proceeds go to lower the rates. The service is unprecedented. You talk to actual people (union workers like you and me)who answer your questions and serve you prompltly. Well, Gerry will be there to update us all the lastest. Anyone who knows Gerry knows that he is pationate about anything he does but the health plan is his baby. Any questions on what our plan covers call the union office and Gerry will call you personally(how about that for service). Gerry Galagher will also wash the cars of every new person that joins our plan(another lie....Gerry will just be happy for you)

Whether you learn so much, win the 50-50 raffle(that benefits our catastrophic fund), or share a sandwich and beverage with a fellow union member, you will probably leave the meeting a more informed person. By the way, didn't Bruce Springstein stop by the last meeting(there goes that lier again) See you there. You never know what might go on at a Branch 725 General Meeting!
