On Friday, October 16th, 2009, at around 10am, letter carrier Lucy Koskinas was hit by a car while delivering her mail route in Yeadon, Pa. the force of the accident threw her 25ft and she is lucky to be alive. Although she has no internal injuries, her leg was broken in 3 places and required surgery, a plate, and 5 screws to repair. Lucy remains out of work with her leg immobilized and it is currently non-weight bearing.

on January 17, 2010, from 3pm to 7pm, NALC Branch 1929 will host a Beef and Beer to benefit Lucy while she recovers from her injuries. the event will be held at Casey's Drexel Hill, 812 Lansdowne Ave, Drexel Hill, Pa.

Funds raised will help her make ends meet while she receives reduced worker's compensation payments for an extended period of time. It will also help with any additional expenses that amy arise from her injury. We wish Lucy a speedy recovery and hope to see her back to work soon.
