Fire Strikes The Home Of One of Our Own
By Eric K. Jackson, Branch 725
On the morning of January 14, 2010 fire struck the home of Bala Cynwyd Shop Steward Diane McGuire. While at work she got a call and had to leave work to go home to an unknown result. The good news is that no one was hurt. Her husband is fine as well. The house sustained damage to the basement and traveled to the first floor. It started as a result of the dryer. Now her basement is smoked out and full of water. The first floor had smoke damage as well as the windows were all broken out. The unfortunate part is on top of all that inconvenience, her insurance had lapsed. So, she is not covered by any fire or homeowners insurance.
That's where the Union Family comes in. There will be a collection taken up. One of our brothers does construction and has offered to do the labor to replace the windows. Hopefully, we can get some discounted windows. The sunshine club at Bala will donate some money, and Jim McCullough informed me that she would be eligible for the maximum amount that the branch catastophic fund provides($100).
We ask that anyone who wishes to donate any amount of money please make out a check or money order to;
Diane McGuire

In tough times, our Union family has always come together. I know that this will be one of those times. Also, on January 17, 2010 there will be a Beef-n-Beer benefit for letter carrier Lucy Koskinas. For info Click Here
