Anaheim 2010

By Andrew Kearney, Branch 725

Whew, what a week. We really had a lot of information to absorb and have a lot of work to do now that we are home. President Rolando gave us hope by telling us the ideas he will propose to the Postal Service to increase business by offering other services and expanding on the services we already offer. First we have to fight to keep six day service. Right now there is a bill in Congress H.R. 5746 http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.5746.IH: This bill would allow the Postal Service to pay off the debt they have and be in the black. If you read the bill you will fully understand what a difference it's passage means to the health of the Postal Service and your job.

You can help with this bill and others that come up that could effect your job. You could contribute to COLCEP. You could become a member of the Carrier Corps. You could become an e-activist. Or like a lot of us you could do all three. But, if you can't do them all please try to do one at the very least. Remember that all the other things that are important to you and your family are only possible by having a strong Union and a secure job. You can get more information on how to be a part of the solution and protect your way of life on our Web site or at http://nalc.org/postal/reform/index.html#comment
